Set pieces not up to the standards we’ve come to expect last night either. Nine corners and 24 free kicks. Could have been the difference on another day.

We need to get better at playing against a low block. We will play against teams doing exactly the same thing into the early stages of the knockouts. You can’t play through the middle like we tried to do last night there just isn’t the space.

England did not take someone who can unpick the lock when a team sits back… Wharton, Palmer, Foden and Maddison could have all made a difference!

Need more zip and movement. Cannot start Gordon and Spence in games like this. Gordon doesn’t have the subtlety and Spence doesn’t make the overlapping runs to draw defenders away

England did not have anything to show for despite having so much possession. The best chance that fell to Kane wasn’t even a ball intended for him. They looked disorganised in the final third and it says a lot when your defensive midfielder has created the most chances.

I’m disappointed we didn’t create more but it’s always hard to break down a low block. Spain had the same issue against Cape Verde. As long as we beat Panama, this result/performance won’t matter at all

I’d argue Ghana deserve more credit for this. It was typical of a Carlos Quieroz team’s performance at a World Cup. His teams can be really difficult to break down and England saw that tonight.
