Is Birmingham City really a ‘sleeping giant’, or is this term over-used and over-hyped ? Who is in the ‘sleeping giant’ club ?

Definitely an over-used term and I don’t think Birmingham qualify for it.

Sleeping giant is way too overused. Villa, Forest and Leeds feel like they could be considered a sleeping giant given history, but Birmingham are not and never have been that big!

Big stadium so they have the foundations to be a big club. Sleeping giant is a stretch.

Sheffield Wednesday far bigger and look at the state they're in. No way will they sell out a 62k stadium.

What makes Wednesday bigger than the Blues ?

There are only two giant clubs in English football - Liverpool and Man United. Birmingham are just another middle size club who think they’re something special after a massive injection of cash and ambition. Have spent about 3 seasons in the top division in the last 25 years. Is that a big club to you? If there’s a ‘sleeping giant’ in England it’s Leeds

Have been in the Championship for far too long that people don't realise their size anymore. Need to get back up, but agree with the term sleeping giant being overused though

I think they are bigger than most think. The new stadium will hold 62k… surely their owners have done all the due diligence and believe they’ll sell out most weeks? Imagine they’ll have to get promoted tho

I tell you one thing - when they were in the Premier League, St Andrews was NOT an easy place to go and get a result

No way. Birmingham fans always claim they’re a sleeping giant but in the grand scheme of things they’re a Championship sized club.

Exactly. You don't retire a teenager's shirt number if you're a sleeping giant. Extremely tinpot regardless of what Jude has gone on to achieve
