What was the correct punishment for this incident with Lewis Hamilton and a Ferrari mechanic?

The Scuderia were fined €30k, €10k of which is suspended

Honestly, a 5 second penalty would not be excessive. I just hope the mechanic suffered no lasting injuries.

It sounds like the mechanic is okay, fortunately. I was surprised Ferrari got away with a fine - but maybe the time penalties are reserved for contact with another car in the pit lane etc

They were lucky with the fine in a way. I wonder if docking teams constructors' points is the fairest way to deal with incidents like this?

You simply cannot separate a driver from their team. If the team makes a mistake (like in this instance), the driver is punished - just like if a driver puts the car in the wall, their team is punished. They are one unified package and must be penalised together (just as they celebrate together).

That’s one of the best solutions I’ve heard actually… still has a sporting punishment without targeting the drivers. Love it
