Should F1 stop Aston Martin from racing after Adrian Newey revealed Fernando Alonso's 'nerve damage' fears?

Vibration & nerve damage is the worst I know because I’ve suffered from white finger for over forty years, which was brought on by my work which wasn’t deemed a health issue back in the 70’s. I’m surprised Health & Safety of the drivers isn’t crawling all over this..Having no feeling in your hands for days on end Is the pits

The FIA should step in if any F1 driver is taking both hands off the wheel at all during races. Because they are F1 races. Obviously he was doing this on the straights, so going upwards of 300kph. It is a huge safety risk to Alonso and to all the other drivers if he is not actively controlling the car.

Agreed, it's not a good look at all. But Aston Martin would try to argue that they need the cars on the track to collect as much data to fix the issue.

Honestly we've had 20 cars on grid for a while, if they need more time it should be granted. Tho they'll want to be out there gathering data.

The issue is, they signed a contract to take part in every race, and the sponsors will want that visibility if nothing else

It’s not worth the risk of temporary or long term injury to their drivers, especially if Aston Martin aren’t going to be even remotely competitive to start.

If driver safety is at risk, then Aston Martin should not be racing, especially when they're going to be stuck at the back all weekend

If Aston Martin truly are going to be occupying the last two spots on the grid, then there's no point at all risking the safety of their two drivers just for P21 and P22.

I wonder if Newey is trying to put the FIA under pressure here, in case Aston Martin are about to do something that would normally get them penalised

Ultimately, F1 drivers have always put themselves at risk by racing, but this feels like a decision the team should make, rather than the FIA

It's definitely a difficult one and I completely agree about drivers putting themselves at risk, but if this is a known, severe problem, I feel like F1 should step in instead of them being forced to do minimum laps to not break the Concorde agreement!
