Have Aston Martin already 'completely ruined' their relationship with Honda?

Utterly epic failure.

I think firing Newey, would be s very bad decision by Stroll. When he joined Red Bull in eerly 2006, he had no influence on the car. In 2007, the team finished 5th, in 2008 they finished 7th. It took Newey two full seasons to break into the top, and in 2009 they finished 2nd. It takes time.

Yeah getting rid of him entirely would be an extreme overreaction. I do think he might need some more support with a fully-fledged team principal though

Aston need a Christian Horner look alike. Somehow he managed a winning team AND massaged Newey AND kept Honda sweet for many years, until politics took over.. Perhaps some of his critics will now start to realize his value as a manager and a leader. Not forgetting RBPowertrains.. I'm only sorry that Stroll got sold a bill of goods.

Remember that Red Bull had Toro Rosso use the Honda power unit for a season before Red Bull took it.

He'd solve a lot of their problems, but I'm not sure the current Honda issue is something even Horner could have foreseen...

It definitely wasn't a great look to be throwing Honda under the bus as they did! It won't be helping to build a strong relationship to ensure development goes smoothly!

Honda have no one to blame but themselves for this mess, Aston Martin are well within their right to be furious.

aaditya.krishnamurthy6mo ago

Playing the blame game with Honda is definitely not the best idea. They hold respect in partnerships in very high regard. And while they did not do the best job, throwing them under the bus isn't a good look. The relationship can be salvaged, but it's a bad start that could get worse if the two sides don't make peace, at least in the public eye.

If their relationship isn't already tarnished, it will be by the end of the season. When you hear what's being said about Honda from Aston Martin, it doesn't look good,

kyle.archer6mo ago

Honda are a very proud company, so will not be enjoying Aston Martin throwing them under the bus repeatedly at the start of their engine partnership. If Honda can fix their battery and reliability issues soon and Aston Martin continue to blame the engine, then their relationship may be doomed to fail already.
