Zinedine Zidane is confirmed as the new French national team coach! But who will have a bigger impact: Jurgen Klopp at Germany or Zidane at France and why?
david.comerford2mo ago
Klopp, because he'll change the culture and not just the tactics
ahambly232mo ago
Definitely Klopp for impact - but what is it with all these top managers taking national team roles??

This is either a master stroke, or will blow up quickly. Having said that, Zidane coped well at Madrid when many others failed. Maybe this will have prepared him for the political challenges that will come his way as a result of taking on this job. I’d be a liar, however, to want him to be successful at England’s expense.

Germany’s squad is miles off it… tough gig for Klopp tbh
markmarston2mo ago
Gary Megson could be the France boss and he’d have a good chance of winning something… that squad is ridiculously good
chillout2mo ago
Whatever happened to Gary Megson ?

I think Zidane will outdo Klopp. He seems to have this aura when working with big names and egos as we saw at Real Madrid. I think he’ll take Mbappe to another level in particular

Having seen them against Spain I presume he's going to be player manager...
markmarston2mo ago
Ouch
josh.barker2mo ago
Such an upgrade, he knows how to deal with big egos
markmarston2mo ago
Good point this…

Zidane will have more success than Klopp. The former has a read-made squad whereas the latter has a massive rebuild job - which takes more than two years to do
kyle.dimond2mo ago
Zidane is such an obvious fit that he’ll probably have a bigger impact but that’s because how big a job Klopp faces to make any significant improvements. Much more excited to watch that side than I am Zidane’s France which I kind of expect to be more of the same, just perhaps slightly better

Zidane I think - international football is often won by pragmatic football rather than detailed tactical plans. I think there’s actually a lot in common between this France job and the one Zidane inherited when he took over Real

Klopp will win Euro 2028
jonny2mo ago
Germany just aren’t that good and I can’t see Klopp getting his system implemented with such little training time. Zidane will win it all with that generational France side.
seanfisher2mo ago
Do Germany even have a team capable of playing “Klopp-ball”? I can see it not going well 👀
jonny2mo ago
He should just target 2030 and start using a group of young players together to build that relationship. 2028 seems forgone to be Spain or France
seanfisher2mo ago
If France weren’t already clear 2028 Euro favourites, they are now. Such a scary team to face. Zidane does extremely well making a team out of world-class individuals
dakir.thanveer2mo ago
Can we talk about what's going on at Italy though? 🫣🤣
chillout2mo ago
What is ‘Italy’ ? Gary Megson ??
seanfisher2mo ago
Really sad Pirlo didn’t get it, would’ve made Italy so exciting to watch

Zidane all the way. That France is begging for someone to empower them in the way Zidane did Real Madrid. I'm not even convinced Klopp’s management style will translate to international football. He is built on communication and spirit which doesn't happen when you meet thrice a year
dakir.thanveer2mo ago
I mean those arguments apply to Zidane as well? How is Zizou going to do what he did at Madrid meeting the squad a handful of times a year? I think Klopp is better equipped to handle that considering his charisma. I'd expect him to be constantly in touch with the players via phone or personally attending matches, etc
george.patten2mo ago
Impact - You’d have to say Klopp as France are already a top side. But Zidane is certainly the right choice to replace Deschamps. Both teams are going to be scary at the Euros
kyle.archer2mo ago
Klopp can have a bigger impact as he’s adopting a Germany squad that has underperformed
dantowen819512mo ago
What would you say is the bigger achievement? Zidane winning the euros/world cup or Klopp turning Germany back into finalists/semi-finalists on a regular basis?
jackgallagher2mo ago
Zidane because no one is getting a tune out of the hopeless Germany squad 😂
dakir.thanveer2mo ago
I think you're overlooking the respect and admiration Klopp commands, especially in Germany. Everyone is going to get behind him. The question is how will Klopp adopt his tactics within the framework of international football
amirmir2mo ago
Zidane is going to cook! Jurgen has a bigger task on his hands, given that a rebuild is needed. France have the car to win the race, they might have now just found the driver!
jamie.brown822mo ago
France could be a serious powerhouse with an elite manager and group of players… The 2028 Euros will be going back to Paris…
