Our thoughts go out to Kevin Keegan’s family - a true character, great player and motivational Manager - and a pioneer playing abroad (in Germany in the 1970s). RIP, Kev - shame our boys couldn’t have sent you off with a World Cup win - somehow that would have been fitting.

One of the rare legendary players who went on to also be a brilliant manger after the fact. He will be missed!

Absolute legend. Love KK, even as a Manchester United fan. Kevin Keegan transcends club rivalries. Gutted to be honest. What a player..

A great Donny man who will be terribly missed. Still remember his return to Newcastle and how the fans treated it as if a god were returning. Proper football man, RIP King Kev

I remember travelling to a remote village in Eritrea in the 1990s. One TV in the whole place - switched on and there was King Kev - even in Africa!!

A true English legend, as a player and manager. Two Ballon d'Ors is only part of what made him such an icon. One of the best personalities we saw in the dugout as well RIP

Probably the most iconic PL manager as I grew up outside of Ferguson. The 4-3 games with Liverpool in successive years are still my favourite PL games from the past.

Someone who didn’t get nearly as much respect for their work with England as a player and manager during their time. Rest in power, Kevin Keegan

Such sad news, may he rest in peace. I have strong Newcastle ties… I’ve grown up constantly hearing the name Kevin Keegan. My grandma and grandad adored him. I was told all about ‘The Entertainers’ team he managed. His legacy is cemented forever. Praying for his loved ones 🙏🏼

An all time great

An iconic character in English football both as a player and manager. RIP

Really sad news. First memory of him was as England boss, could tell how desperate he was to be a success. Always thought it was incredibly classy how he stepped away once he realised he wasn’t the right man. Put the team ahead of his ego

dancoombs2mo ago

I thought he should have stuck around really, he was unlucky at Euro 2000

chillout2mo ago

Yes - the current manager might want to reflect on that.

The “I would love it if beat them” rant was so iconic! Way before my time and I still say it sometimes

One of the biggest characters in the game. A brilliant player, sound manager and a huge void has just been left in the world of football. RIP King Kev...

Truly legendary manager and player! One of the greatest England has ever produced! Rest in peace. 🤍

Horrible refreshing social media to see this news. Glad to hear he was surrounded by loved ones. Only English player to win the ballon d’or twice. Legend.
