Is Carlos Prates the biggest threat to Islam Makhachev's welterweight title reign?

Garry doesnt get the respect hes earned imo, he should be next, he beat prates, whether that translates to having a better chance vs Islam is up for debate but he should be next.

Prates is a way better fighter than Garry , Garry is wanna be mCgregor but cant back it up , Prates is a guy whos either hot or not , sadly he isnt consistent enough , but id rather Prates fight Garry first!

I know styles make fights but Ian literally beat Prates last year. I'd say Prates is fairly consistent considering that's the one fight he lost and even then he came close to stopping Ian.

No I think Gerry has the better chance. Carlos is a dangerous striker but Islam’s striking has gotten a lot better and he will work his way in, take him down and pound on him. But anything can happen

Islam was out struck by poirier. Prates has way more weapons &experience striking.

I'd say yes at this stage. I was super impressed with Michael Morales' last fight and Ian is the most technical of the three. But, after that JDM win, Carlos just looks lethal if you give him any time at all to settle.

Just think if Ian beat him by mostly wrestling/grappling and running around the octagon... What do you think Islam does to Carlos. Carlos does NOT have very good grappling at all. It will be a 50-45 Islam.

That’s a good point. But in fairness, Garry did only land 4 of his attempted 19 takedowns on Prates. And he actually only controlled him on the ground for 3 minutes of a 25 minute fight.

Islam like Khabib breaks fighters majority are never the same so when they try to rebound underestimating there next opposition a little & when its a young gun a killer like Carlos they paying dearly ..

Hard not to say yes, especially after showing some improved takedown defense. Feels as though it will take someone explosive to shock Islam at welterweight
