It would be the least surprising of the upsets that’s for sure. Picking Islam but I can see Ian coming out of this fight with some praise

I have no excitement of Ian Machado Garry fighting anyone in the UFC. If I want to watch a points fighting kickbox match I will do so on some other platform than the UFC. He is one of the least exciting fighter on the roster. Hopefully he will be beaten into the mat and we can put this to bed

I'd rather watch kickboxing than dagastani wrestling. Look at Haggerty or Anane fights in One vs lying on top of DDP for 25 minutes. Give me muay thai any day.

He had as much a chance as Gaetjhe or Strickland does. He got the reach advantage. Depends on how well he handles himself on the ground against Makachev. If this fight goes the distance Garry has a really good chance. Rooting for Islam though.

It wont go the distance. If Islam catches him in the 1st it will end in 1. If not he will catch him and submit him in 2. Ian is elite on his feet. He will only be on his feet until Islam gets his hands on him.

I rate Garry's chances of beating Makhachev higher than I did Strickland's against Chimaev or Gaethje's against Topuria

I think he has a very good chance, and crazily despite Islam being P4P number one, I don’t think it’d be as a big an upset as Gaethje beating Topuria or Strickland beating Khamzat.
