What's next for Conor McGregor after UFC 329?

'Notorious' suffered a serious knee injury moments into his comeback fight against Max Holloway.

steedraney794d ago

I think if he laid off the blow, stopped drinking, actually prepared to compete instead of acting like a coked out frat boy, he might be able to compete on a YouTube bum fight. He is not a fighter anymore.

greysk8r3w ago

he has done more in his life with the UFC than most could ever dream of doing let him retire in peace, end of story and the start of new beginnings with the up and coming talent that is the next gen of ultimate fighting champions, well done Conor no matter what you will always be one of the greats that built the industry from the ground up. God bless bro

nick00769w3w ago

UFC needs to stop padding stats, wins or losses outside the UFC should be dropped. Inside the UFC Connor is 11-8, not that great. Retire! Within the five years UFC will lose almost half of their fighters to retirement.

w9vkdkyptk3w ago

He's finished ...nothing left to gain for cm

aeboyles1mo ago

Please retire. Your best days are long ago and you are not going to win anything, but you could lose whatever respect you still might have.

So I'm no analyst, nor a fighter, just a lifelong dedicated fan- but why? Why would anyone entertain the idea of continuing to support this guy? Whoever signs his contract should absolutely be paying from his own pocket. Connor wouldn't even entertain the idea of fighting if he can't get millions and get paid for the walk out. Injury? I seriously doubt it.

aeboyles2mo ago

So sick of this a$$hole and his gutter mentality and antics. Zero class. Zero respect. Get this guy out of MMA for God's sake.

jentlybay2mo ago

He'll never win again. First, nobody can take him seriously, second, everyone knows that all they have to do is kick out the popsicle sticks that he walks on. He was all talk before Max, and even more talk now...

steve.wilson17212mo ago

No, dry ice is never wet because it does not melt into a liquid. Instead of melting, dry ice turns directly into a gas in a process called sublimation. Retire, dude.

richiellamas2mo ago

I'm sure we will see him again. Just like we keep seeing Mike Tyson and other fighters in a circus exhibition. That Connor McGregor from 2014 is so far gone. He should walk away proudly.

lnicoletti42mo ago

"Fights" next time with a walker. Retire already SP.!

lawrencepolice5642mo ago

I think he should retire but the question isn’t my opinion of what he should do so what’s next for him doing further damage to his legacy

donmd7142mo ago

I’d like to see him fight chandler and then retire after that win. Maybe a Nate Diaz boxing match after that

jester39392mo ago

He's got one fight on his contract left with the UFC I don't share the same feelings as podcasts Regardless of this act of I'm a good guy, I recognize my previous self and I'm doing the steps. This leopard isn't changing his spots. He's still the felon that he used to be and he will still draw main event $$$. There will be a greedy person to take advantage

gp1952birth2mo ago

We all in Montana heard Conor is back in training for a big money fight next year with Rhonda Rousey....... hope she goes easy on him !!!

mrkmonteith2mo ago

The Natorious Conor McGregor will definitely be back for Holloway 3rd UFC fight it's all about the 😊💯💵💵💵let's be very Honest people cheers Marki boi Jr 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💪💪💪

UFC was in on the scam; that's why Dana did not want Conner on the White House card. If that big act happened at the White House, Trump would have reassessed everyone's taxes who was involved, IMO.

4726rlp772mo ago

I saw him trying to step out of his Nike shoes before he got into the ring. It looked like his right knee was injured at that point! Would he have been paid $15 million for the fight if he had not stepped into the ring and then did the weird fling kick that showed his right leg was injured before he got into the ring! Seems like theft to go into a fight to

jason.marion2mo ago

He’ll be back for Holloway 3 and retire afterwards.

goobstube692mo ago

Pre injured, faked that stupid jump kick to cover it up, he was in there just long enough for that 20 mil paycheck, what a disgrace, fandom should be revoked

larry864262mo ago

Retire

jc.tumlinson2mo ago

His right knee buckled when the Con tried taking off his slippers. Had no business trying to reenter the octagon. Dana and the entire UFC should be embarrassed.

ryanbratoc2mo ago

Honestly I think he should get right back on the horse. It's one thing to lose and go out. It's another thing to go out like that.

ryanbratoc2mo ago

Well, it's not an awful point you make lol

clkb8moto2mo ago

Damaged knee, broken leg, broken toe, damaged knee (again). He needs to stay off that horse. His body is fragile.

makazul28622mo ago

Rush sure has his father's back!!!🤣👍MCGREGOR'S BS AND HYPE finally bit him on his knee and a**!

richiellamas2mo ago

He damn well knew he wasn't able to compete. He just rode the attention to far this time.

aazam.khan6292mo ago

mike12yankees2mo ago

Retire

morrielouden2mo ago

Judging by his behavior, there's a high probability that Conor was injured pre fight. But it was also clear that his knee popped in the video...

oldnhbfreak2mo ago

Was he dumb or smart to go for that kick with a compromised knee? Dumb if he was planing on fighting through. Smart if he knew he couldn't and wanted something to blame his injury on. It was a stupid kick to start a fight with. Max saw it coming and was well out of the way of it.

jamie.theodosi2mo ago

Genuinely have no interest in seeing McGregor in any realm of combat sports. The sport has moved past him.

kyle.dimond2mo ago

I think he'll come back and do one more to fight out his contract before doing some BKFC bouts. I feel like that was always going to be the plan to be honest

oldnhbfreak2mo ago

The ufc doesn't pay if you back out of a fight. So this is a win win for McGregor. He gets paid, he saves face and the narrative will be "he didn't loose, he got injured". McGregor might not be the greatest fighter, but he is smart and postiche.

harvey.leonard2mo ago

You think he's lying about being injured before the fight?

george.patten2mo ago

Just leave - Not a good person, not a good fighter anymore either

harvey.leonard2mo ago

Even if it was a freak injury, that's certainly a sign that his time is up

bellhop19542mo ago

Y’a that’s right you dodge the bullet this time. Don’t think they’ll be a next time. ! You SAD MCGREGOR !!!!!!

neilbarker6922mo ago

You could see it in his eyes in t press conference, that spark wasn't there, neither was his quick wit of old.. You can just stay out t ring for 5yrs and expect your body to do what it used too. The mind might be willing his body clearly isn't.. Retire now before it goes to far.

harvey.leonard2mo ago

Agreed. The walkout too. He kept saying he was back for the love of the game, and I wonder if he was just trying to convince himself of that throughout fight week

jordan.ellis2mo ago

I'd like to see him leave the UFC and do BKFC, Misfits, some fun stuff. Don't think he's capable of being a world class MMA fighter anymore.

bellhop19542mo ago

Conor McGregor dodge the bullet. I wanted to see Max smash his face.. Dam
