Palace fans are said to be experiencing a bizarre emotion described as ‘anxious euphoria’ - over the moon about winning in Europe for the first time, but dread about losing manager Oliver Glasner. What comes next for the club ?

I think the slight anxiety comes from previously failing to kick on when the chance to do so has been there (running back to Hodgson after Vieira was sacked) It feels different nowadays, however. There is serious motion at this club and the anxiety is much closer to excitement - we're on the cusp of something special 🔥

A step into the unknown, perhaps?

They have a Europa League campaign to look forward, albeit one which won’t be as straightforward as the Conference League. Missing out on Iraola is a huge blow but Pierre Sage could be a really shrewd appointment

Glanser is a proven winner, I can’t see them replacing him with anyone nearly as good

Where do you think Glasner will end up ?

I think Palace will now face a big drop off… they finished 15th (six above relegation) with the best manager in the clubs history. Their next appointment realistically won’t be close to Glasner’s level, so the optics don’t look great just on that basis. Plus, the demands of the Europa League will be far greater next year… I actually can see them going down

I’d like to see a few solid free agents come in, like Kamada. Or some intelligent loans. Will really need to beef up the squad this summer

He’s set a bar now that all Palace managers will have to live up to by proving they can win trophies. Interested to see how someone else does with this side though

Manage expectations. Glasner worked miracles but also proved that Palace can compete for trophies. Back the new manager and go again, but don’t immediately expect them to emulate Glasner

Glasner should never have been allowed to leave. After the FA Cup last year the board should have given him a blank check to do whatever he wanted, not tell off half the team 😭

Seems like they’re getting a good one in Pierre Sage to replace Glasner. 2nd in Ligue 1 and the domestic trophy last season

Massive decision for Parish. Iraola would’ve been incredible, but he’s gone now. Lampard would be a gamble, as is Pierre Sage. I’d lean towards the latter, though, after the brilliant job he did at Lens last season

Glasner has worked miracles with this team. Steve Parish needs to properly back whoever comes in this summer otherwise we risk a huge drop off
