How would you grade what the Bucks got for Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Heat? And why?

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis to the Miami Heat for Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, 3 first-round picks, 1 pick swap and 1 second-rounder.

C It can never be "good" or "amazing" when you lose a generational talent Picks are nice and there's some good young talent there, but they have just been sent to the back of line in terms of title contention. Finishing the Giannis era with just one title is disappointing

On face value im going with a C. But iIm waiting to see what they do with Herro. Hes a hometown kid, but hes up for a contract next season, and I doubt they resign him. So if they can flip him for an extra pick in this loaded draft, that makes some sense

aikansh3mo ago

It’s a C in my opinion because they can kiss their chances of competing for a title anytime soon, unless the Bucks FO has more moves planned!

B minus - negotiating with Riley is never easy but you need to get more than three FRP, at least more than one pick swap. But Kasparas was a great bag, while Herro can statpad and come off the books eventually

I would say B. Unsure if they keep Herro but he's a good trade asset. With Rollins, Jaquez, Ware, they've got some good young players for the rebuild. Draft package seems good too.

aaditya.krishnamurthy3mo ago

I think the one that has the most star potential for them is Kasparas Jakucionas, imo a top 5 guard in last years class just didn’t get the runs with Miami because of their hyper rigid grind set hierarchy - Milwaukee may have gotten their PG of the future in this deal

jackgallagher3mo ago

I'd give it a B, they'll be fun next season with more shooters, but getting Brown would've been better

david.comerford3mo ago

My issue with Brown is that they wouldn't necessarily be able to build a winning roster around him, even if he wanted to stay. If they'd included Gonzalez, it would have been more tempting, but I think prioritising young players made sense

dancoombs3mo ago

I think they should have taken Boston’s offer and got Jaylen Brown

aaditya.krishnamurthy3mo ago

Disagree, Brown has turned into a bit of a malcontent and id he wasn’t happy in a franchise like Boston, there’s no guarantee he would have stayed longer than his contract with Milwaukee. Plus Kasparas is a far better young prospect to build around than Hugo Gonzales

B. 4 young players & three picks is a very good package. The only reason it’s not an A is they don’t have a cornerstone to build around
