← Talk Brentford

Just how much are Brentford overachieving? It’s clearly not a fluke - they have surely shown how an analytically driven, smaller club can achieve a sustainable, top-half Premier League presence without relying on billionaire backing. So impressive. What were the highs last season - beating United and Liverpool ?

Keith Andrews deserves credit, but the club being run the way it has been helps build a competitive environment for coaches to flourish. It’s been a remarkable story.

kyle.dimond4mo ago

Everyone, myself included, though they were doomed. To nearly get European football is just remarkable. They’ve overachieved for so long that at this point we have to start expecting it

Unreal job by Matthew Benham. He has such a cool story with that betting stuff. Definitely a data-driven man.

tom.procter4mo ago

Feared massively for Brentford after losing key figures but fair play to Andrews what a top job he has done. Real shame they narrowly missed out on Europe but that could help them to really kick on again in 26/27

jonny4mo ago

The season almost feels disappointing in the end, threw away European football and that has to be the target for Andrea’s next season

lrandall12104mo ago

They’ve had a brilliant season, it’s just whether they can retain the players and build from here

markmarston4mo ago

Brentford had a great season but they actually finished with three less points than they managed with Frank last year. So, there are signs that perhaps Andrews hasn’t progressed this team as far as many think… they benefited from many of the big boys struggling. I think next season will be tough with Chelsea, Newcastle & Spurs improving. I predict a drop off

Brentford are ridiculously well run from the top down! Every part is like a moving cog, if they lose a key player, they replace them superbly and bank the profit. They proved this season that they can do the same with the manager. It’s a well-oiled machine!

vatsal4mo ago

Most well-run club in the PL. Owner Matthew Benham's scouting data is the most untouchable "player" which replaces every player. It's not a coincidence that Tony Bloom at Brighton is doing similarly. They were boss and employee!

seanfisher4mo ago

1,000,000% agree. Benham is the mastermind behind the project, he is their most valuable asset

Keith Andrews has done incredibly well – unfortunate not to make Europe. But Brentford’s squad has been wonderfully constructed. They are the blueprint for how to survive and belong in the Premier Legaue

vatsal4mo ago

He's done so well that I'm confused if he's actually a good manager or Brentford are just that well run!

jamie.brown824mo ago

The way Brentford managed to transition from Frank to Andrews so seamlessly highlights the incredible environment that the club have created at the G-Tech! 👏

matthew.johns4mo ago

To me as a Coventry City fan, they are the blueprint as to how a club should be run to become a consistent and rising force in a Premier League that so many promoted teams have struggled in recently - so impressive!

harveyleonard994mo ago

Club must be ran so well behind the scenes. Credit to Keith Andrews too. Proved a lot of people wrong as Frank’s successor

josh.barker4mo ago

One of the most well run clubs in the PL along with Bournemouth and Brighton. It doesn’t matter if big players or mangers are poached, the infrastructure always ensures quality replacements are ready to come in. Plenty of teams could learn a few things from them

eoin4mo ago

You put that level of competence into somewhere like Chelsea and I think you're looking at a different club entirely

george.patten4mo ago

Think they are overachieving big time. Missing out on Europe was tough but would’ve been worried about how they would have handled the extra fixtures

vatsal4mo ago

Good point. Moneyball strategy gets tested when you need to buy depth. Replacing superstars every season is difficult, sure, but adding multiple capable players each season is impossible by just "being well-run"

charlesjones4mo ago

Remarkable season. Frank, Norgaard, Wissa and Mbeumo all gone and they’re better than ever.

freddie4mo ago

They are one of the clubs run so well, like Bournemouth and Brighton etc

will.butcher4mo ago

Keith andrews has done a remarkable job. Deserved Manager of the season

eoin4mo ago

Andrews' job at Brentford was far more worthy of the award than arteta limping over the line

thatfan4mo ago

He's managed to get the most out of a lot of their players. Momentum plays a big part and if they can start strong next season could be another good season for them
