Was Thomas Frank just the wrong man and the wrong time at Spurs, or was he culpable for last season’s abysmal performance with his negative tactics, leadership choices and PR blunders ? What will De Zerbi learn from all this ?
kyle.dimond4mo ago
I think De Zerbi will learn that he hasn’t got a whole lot of time before Spurs start to get very nervous about another relegation battle 😂😂
harvey.leonard4mo ago
Conte said it best before he got the sack..."If they want to continue in this way, they can change the manager, a lot of managers, but the situation cannot change. Believe me." Event he best manager can't fix a broken club.

De Zerbi has changed the mindset and mentality, it’s clear as day
jameslloyd14.jl4mo ago
Some unfortunate circumstances (injuries, certain transfers that he had no say in), sure, but Thomas Frank only has himself to blame. Spent half his time making excuses. No acocuntability. De Zerbi has already instilled a better culture

Wrong man, wrong time! 💯 Those saying he was out of depth, etc aren't understanding the context. He came into replace Ange, taking over his team. Two different styles. Too hard to switch things up. That plus the abysmal way Spurs are run, was destined for failure. RDZ did nothing great either. Hope Frank is back in the PL soon.
shamanth.jayaram4mo ago
As much as I like Frank, he was never the right fit after Ange. He deserves the criticism he’s getting, but Spurs’ problems are down to a lot more than whoever is the manager. The De Zerbi era will be Conte 2.0 unless something drastically changes behind the scenes.

That final press conference from De Zerbi in 2028 will give deja vu to Spurs fans. So predictable
vatsal4mo ago
Frank is the perfect modern hipster manager. Style suited to underdogs, struggles to resonate with top players, and no plan B. Spurs have an unprofessional dressing room . They sensed weakness and ate him alive RDZ, fortunately, will eat himeslf alive so Spurs won't have that problem again
chillout4mo ago
What are you saying about De Zerbi ?!
markmarston4mo ago
This may be a bit harsh…but I think Frank is one of those managers who only work at smaller clubs… he’s pragmatic by nature and when asked to take the games to others, he struggles. So he’ll do well at a side who are ok with not having the ball. De Zerbi is a notable upgrade as he’s a master at breaking teams down with patterns of play. Good appointment.

Think he was the wrong man for the job but doesn’t deserve all the blame. Club was heading in the wrong direction before he arrived

Frank is a good manager. Tottenham still nursing the impact of Ange's training methods. Medical team needs a overhaul.
chillout4mo ago
Where do you think he is likely to end up next ?
gorriejonathan4mo ago
I think the job was too big for him. You could see him shrink in stature. Rudderlesss, which played out on the pitch
matthew.johns4mo ago
Although he cannot be blameless for their results last year, I think it’s easy to forget that Spurs finished 17th the season before Frank joined, but their European success papered over the cracks a bit. I definitely expect De Zerbi to do a better job, but I still think there are some big issues within the club!
johnverrall114mo ago
The only reason Spurs finished that low under Ange was because he basically tossed away the league for the Europa League for four months
johnverrall114mo ago
Insane reading so many people say it wasn’t Frank’s fault. The guy was the worst Tottenham manager of my lifetime. A terrible loser mentality, abysmal football and totally not cut out to manage a big club. Brentford was his ceiling and even they are doing better without him.
jonny4mo ago
Obviously Spurs have a lot of issues playing staff, board etc but Frank was comically out of his depth!
jamie.brown824mo ago
How Johan Lange and Vinai Ventkatesham remain in positions of power after nearly taking us down is a JOKE!
chillout4mo ago
Is any of this down to Levy ?
jamie.brown824mo ago
It’s these owners!! Nobody at ENIC or in the boardroom takes any accountability for the failures. The recruitment has been all over the place and we saw a refelection of that on the pitch.
vatsal4mo ago
Never thought Daniel Levy could look like a genius but this lot have made that happen!
tom.procter4mo ago
While he was poor, I did feel a bit for Frank as he inherited a mediocre squad. Several players need binning off and De Zerbi needs to establish a clear identity
jamie.brown824mo ago
Frank’s negative tactics did himself no favours. Shocking manager!
seanfisher4mo ago
Not Frank’s fault, that squad is a joke, and the players should be ashamed De Zerbi’s top priority should be ripping up that squad’s core. I’d get rid of Romero, Tel, Dragusin, Richarlison just to name a few
jamie.brown824mo ago
Frank was useless. His tactics were so negative and failed to get the best out of players. You only have to look at what RDZ did in the final few matches.
josh.barker4mo ago
Frank wasn’t the problem, Ange wasn’t the problem. The club needs major changes from above but they won’t come. De Zerbi is a fringe manager but spurs will never be a top top team unless the hierarchy changes
josh.barker4mo ago
*fine manager
dale.odonnell4mo ago
The recruitment at Tottenham has been abysmal. Thomas Frank needed time.
jamie.brown824mo ago
The recruitment has been the biggest joke at the club! Johan Lange needs to be sacked ASAP!!
brogan4mo ago
We’d have been a Championship side by April if Frank hadn’t been sacked. Looked nothing more than a PE teacher
charlesjones4mo ago
It’s the players. Let’s not forget, Spurs were 17th last season on 39 points. 42 points this season - they’ve got better! ‘Encouraging signs’ as they say
seanfisher4mo ago
That is a shocking statistic 😂 45 points next season then, by their rate of improvement?
