Reece James as a central midfielder or a right-back under Xabi Alonso?👀
The million pound question!

Neither

THE MIDFIELD IS BEST FOR JAMES' OVERALL WELL BEING AS PER CAREER AND PHYSICAL HEALTH, INJURY FREE...HE HAS THE IMMENSE POTENTIAL AND ABILITY FOR ANY ROLE ON THE PITCH, EVEN AS FALSE 9...

⁸hes too fat for midfield
What makes Chelsea so much better defensively when Reece James is playing? 👇
As of February 15.

JAMES HAS DEFENCE, MIDFIELD AND ATTACK BUILT INTO HIM ALL AT ONCE...ANY COACH WHO TRULY SEES THIS, WILL TURN HIM INTO AN EXCEPTIONALLY MAGNIFICENT, WORLD CLASS PLAYER...AN ABSOLUTE RARE BREED.

JAMES WAS BUILT TO PLAY FOOTBALL WITH GREAT VISION, HIGH TECHNICAL QUALITY AND ABILITY TO SET AND RAISE STANDARDS ON THE PITCH...HE HAS THE PRESENCE TO IMPACT DEFENCE, MIDFIELD AND ATTACK FOR THE DURATION OF A MATCH... THIS IS A RARE QUALITY, HE IS A RARE BREED.

I think the confidence he exudes. Very rarely beaten when playing RB and he is fast and strong which I am sure worries and influences opposition wingers

HOT TAKE: Marc Cucurella is MORE important to Chelsea than Reece James
philchristie1955230d ago
Tough question. My feeling is that they are both excellent in their roles and bring confidence, athleticism and aggression to the defence. If pushed would have opted for Cucurella purely on fitness and games played but that will now change

If we're talking inverted wingbacks then yes, I think there's a case for saying it. However we concede less when James is playing and Cucu hasn't been out injured for a long period until now. We'll see how many we concede without Cucu

This is a tough one! James is the better player but I think Gusto is a better backup than Hato so maybe Cucurella is more important 🤷♂️

Not there yet. But he's on the correct path.

He's getting there. He helped win us two trophies (albeit in the case of both somewhat minor ones). We can revisit once we've won the League, FA cup, or Champions League
