Are Mercedes' rivals hiding behind 2026 'excuses'?

By Wolff's logic, the 2019 Ferrari engine was legal as well though. It's the same principle, your engine is legal when being measured but you're exceeding limits when not being measured. You can't have it both ways.

F1 seems to have too much regulation and stifling of team enterprise. Rules set should apply all year; if legal within the wording now, it's good to go!

No one actually has any proof that Mercedes have done what people are saying. Metallurgy does not allow an endless number of options. There are physical laws that restrict what is possible. If Mercedes has tried to do something, how much good will it do? A few hp? RB's energy deployment could be more important. Their rivals are full of it.

Yes, they are bcuz right now they should more focused on their cars and drivers rather than going through what the other team has been doing and wasting their time such as this

This is just how F1 works unfortunately. I understand why Wolff is frustrated though, because a genius move from his engineers might not be rewarded

I agree with Wolff here, I personally feel like they haven't explicitly gone against anything set out in the regulations and the objections from their rivals are only coming from the fact that they didn't come up with it.

Yes, they complaint only because they were not able to do this, if they did, ofc why would they mind

Only time will tell really! We've seen it so many times before when rivals try to pull apart regulation interpretations!

It might be easier for Mercedes' rivals to point the figure at the Silver Arrows doing a better job through questionable means than to admit that their 2026 F1 regulations engine is not as good.
