← Man Utd vs Hull City LIVE Reaction to 2-0 defeat

Man Utd have LOST the opening game vs Hull City: What is your INSTANT REACTION?

What went wrong for United? Which players disappointed you the most?

zeke.wolf421mo ago

Bruno is right that we can't retain possession, but fails to grasp that he's the one who gives the ball away the most. Bad pressing and zero real creation. He simply cannot play possession football. He needs to sit these low block games out.

mazambanivs1mo ago

He was actually not in the game. But I think our real problem was more of technical aptitude, Carrick's responsibility, than that we didn't have players who could have won the game without much struggle at our disposal.

mazambanivs1mo ago

The new signings were not supposed to be in the starting line up. They need time to adjust. Rhythm was disturbed. With Amad out, Rashford was supposed to start. Sesko was supposed to be introduced earlier since Cunha struggles to last the full match. However, since last season, Carrick struggles playing against small teams, that's the painful reality.

zeke.wolf421mo ago

The issue is two-fold: without Sesko we lack a focal point for attack; with Bruno, we lack the ability to retain and work possession. We cannot play Mbeumo as a striker in these low block matches and Bruno needs to sit them out as well.

febced11mo ago

Passes went astray, no pressure was applied. It was a continuation of last week's 4 - 0 2nd half vs. AC Milan, and today's performance was absolutely diabolical. So, 6 goals conceded in 90 mins. without any reply. Rashford and Sesko came on, necessary, with little and no pre-season matches. It was a horror show of seismic proportions.

dancoombs1mo ago

Six goals without reply… very worrying when put like that

willysauti51mo ago

United failing to press a not so good Hull City back-line how are we going to survive against teams like Bayern, Barcelona and PSG. It is high time United learned how to do a organised press otherwise it was embarrassing how United players were caught ball watching.

davecarey281mo ago

It appears we are still in holiday mode. Worrying that we still haven't resolved transfer issues. Midfield and left back. Dorgu is not a winger by my way if thinking

dancoombs1mo ago

He certainly didn’t play like one today

declanecollins1mo ago

Including League and Friendles Michael Carrick has now managed 23 games. Our best performances the First and Second matches against City and Arsenal - A long time ago now

stephenjholmes11mo ago

That is because there was no need to motivate the players for them games. Really sad when you can only get motivated for the big games.

slide.ramekin-3s1mo ago

The stats for the match state that Shaw lost the ball 23 times and Fernandes 22 times. Considering that most of Shaw's successful ones are back passes herein lies the problem.. Just a bad day at the office. Question: Of the current squad, what is the best Starting XI and what is the best finishing XI (include academy players)

amirmir1mo ago

And the European games haven't even kicked in yet...😶

jamesshearman231mo ago

Carrick out? I already thought he wouldn’t last the season but maybe he’ll be gone by November 😬

slide.ramekin-3s1mo ago

I said should lose against Hull and Ipswich. More than half the team think that this was the penultimate friendly before the season actually kicks off. Lethargic all round. Cunha and Fernandes walking everywhere. Don't agree with 2/10 Dorgu - at least he tried. They'll lose against Ipswich in their final warm up match before they start clicking into gear.

jonathan.gorrie1mo ago

No point getting carried away this early but that was bad. Bullied.

jamesshearman231mo ago

Carrick was always going to fail. Most obvious new manager bounce ever and will get found out this season

par_carlstedt1mo ago

Poor signings over the summer. We should have sold Mount, Zirkzee, and Ugarte right away—before the World Cup—to free up capital. It’s interesting to think what the team would have looked like with Wharton, Nmecha, and Osimhen, plus some talents promoted from the academy this season.

roypirie01mo ago

Totally agree. Problem is very poor recruitment.

barryroberts721mo ago

I know we were crap today but you can't say poor signings off one game if we did buy those players, apart from it would cost loads it would be back to the old days of out bidding other teams again just to get them in, and if next weeks game is a must win this early in the season what if our new signings have a fantastic game would you still say the same?

barryroberts721mo ago

When the lads on SS said that we wouldn't do well this season and we will end up in the Europa League, i was all set to throw my remote at the TV now i think they are right and i'm going to throw the table instead.

dancoombs1mo ago

I can’t bring myself to listen to any of the useless pundits on Sky talk about this. They will love it

slide.ramekin-3s1mo ago

Early days yet - another loss against Ipswich first in the WD40 final - and then they'll be up to speed before the wheels fall off in the international break. Season only stars properly after that International break.

geldroper1mo ago

There was no intention of even playing. Fernandes and the whole defense could have stayed home. Mbeomo and Cuhna were useless and every ball was strait on the goali. He didn't even have to move

epi2media1mo ago

😬Checked the table...already fighting relegation from day one of the new season?...Momentum my foot!

jihad.dinero221mo ago

Should have played both in their natural position or cunha up front rashford as LW and shift in kobbie and youri together... Used Dalot as LB cos Luke was lost today

seanfisher1mo ago

That's one way to immediately flatten and kill all optimism in the fanbase. What a humbling

slide.ramekin-3s1mo ago

Quite agree - but nothing new - lost first game last season but I doubt Hull will go on and win the league

granitegraham1mo ago

Hull were the better team today. As a United fan it pains me to admit that , and can not believe how bad we were . Carrick made the mistake he made against Milan last week, playing Cunha through the middle. It doesn't work, he drops to deep to get on the ball as a result of which there is either no presence or the wrong presence in the box .

slide.ramekin-3s1mo ago

I was asking myself if Cunha was playing - realised he was when he was substituted off. Too many similar player vying for the number 10 role. Fernandes, Cunha, Tielemans, Mbuemo, Rashford

geldroper1mo ago

Carrick had no idea how to deal with 5 defenders. How other teams don't catch on

shamanth.jayaram1mo ago

Huge reality check. They can’t be any worse next weekend, can they? That’s probably the only positive other than Lammens’ saves

dancoombs1mo ago

History has shown that whenever we think ‘it can’t get worse’ - it can

slide.ramekin-3s1mo ago

Don't expect a victory against Ipswich - the if they lose - you won't be disappointed

anotheralexanderws1mo ago

Wait. We have been here in 2012, 2014, 2020, 2022, 2025. And all of these season ended great. When we lose opening game all we want is must win all remaining games

slide.ramekin-3s1mo ago

They'l lose to Ipswich and then start playing properly

granitegraham1mo ago

Not sure about great , 2012 2nd , 2014 7th , 2020 3rd , 2022 6th and 2025 15th. Hull would be proud of that record, not sure United should be.

anotheralexanderws1mo ago

The same old story we lost opening game, again. Absolute shitshow ever. We always get 70+ points when lose opening game. It's still game 1 but lose 3 of 5 opening games are biggest shitshow ever. Absolute embarrassing.

slide.ramekin-3s1mo ago

Who was the MUFC WD40 man of the match? They were all rusty in their individual performance and their collective performance - but they will get better

kasbiylillah1mo ago

Same old problem for years: an awful first half + struggle against teams that sit deep.

vatsal1mo ago

new midfielders were supposed to make us better vs low-blocks. We looked better when our midfield was Bruno and Kobbie. Very worrying.

chillout1mo ago

[DELETED] As the Mayor of Hiroshima was jokingly said to have stated: ‘What the f..k was that?’

thetruthpersonified1mo ago

Inappropriate and unnecessary comment.. In poor taste!

dancoombs1mo ago

Absolute disaster. What concerned me most is that even when Hull changed CBs and we brought on more attackers, we still could not create chances. Just absolutely pathetic

jihad.dinero221mo ago

@ times l only wish

adnan.riaz1mo ago

I half expected Carrick to pull off his mask and show Ruben's face after this performance. Talk about regression, man.

adnan.riaz1mo ago

So, you're telling me that 21 isn't coming home this season? FFS. What a BAD performance that was.

george.patten1mo ago

Hull were good but that’s a big worry for United. Nowhere near it

adnan.riaz1mo ago

We were terrible. Such a bad way to start the season.
