Leicester boss Russell Martin says he can't understand why he receives so much criticism, but why do you think he does?

He rubs people up the wrong way, just no ignoring that. The Rangers fans really didn’t take to him from day one. I feel bad for the guy but obviously there’s an issue with his communication

Think he needs to look at how he speaks to the media, there’s obviously a reason why people don’t take to him Nothing that can’t be fixed though

He spoke like a man that really was worried about himself and his family. Hopefully the game of football finds the right balance between criticising and getting personal about players and coaches

There is something inheriently unlikeable about him. Some people are just irritating to others, he is one of them sadly for him

I think he rubs people up the wrong way and I think it’s frustrating that he seems to keep getting these well Paid big jobs when he’s a bit of a shyster. I’d no idea about any of the personal stuff or what he’s into, I just find him a bit arrogant personally.

I just think it appears arrogant when you will not adapt a style of play regardless of the players available, the opposition, the form. Every manager should have a plan B, and I don’t think Martin has even proved that his plan A works particularly well. (Unfortunately) everyone beats Leeds at Wembley

The way people talk about him as become totally deranged. I’ve seen people this week accusing him of deliberately playing his style of football in order to get paid off from clubs, accusing him of playing the victim, calling him an egomaniac… it’s not justified criticism, just toxic personal abuse
chillout3w ago
Yeah, I don’t think any manager should be targeted in this way. Criticism him for his results, fair enough, but the other stuff is a bit unnecessary. It can’t help him focus on trying to win matches.
dale.odonnell3w ago
A few reasons. He’s a crap manager and loves himself so much that he would eat himself if he was made of chocolate. 🙈

Three league wins since 2024… how can that justify not receiving criticism
chillout3w ago
Isn’t it totally results driven ? Jose is cocky - but has the CV to justify it. Brian Clough was a bit out there, but his teams generally did the biz on the pitch. I don’t think Leicester fans would care less how arrogant he was or what he wore, he’d probably be a hero if they were top of the League.
james.brooke3w ago
Yeah that’s it, think the mix of over confidence/arrogance, whatever you want to call it and not being able to back it up with results is what annoys people
markmarston3w ago
Criticise his football and tactics… totally understandable. But it’s become trendy pile on… lots of people attack the man rather than sticking to the football. It needs calling out. Hope he can turn this around 🦊
brogan3w ago
What was that social media/lack of patience debate the other day…
george.patten3w ago
He just comes across so arrogant. The pile on is too much at times. I’ll agree with that, but he really doesn’t help himseld
callum_boyle3w ago
Let’s be honest, it’s because he’s different. The vegan diet, dressing in clothes he feels comfortable in, it makes him an easy target. His self confidence does sometimes rub up the wrong way, however, personal abuse towards him is unacceptable. I’m not a fan of his playing style and that definitely deserves criticism but nothing else

I have nothing against him as a man and I hope he does well here. My point was more that there's a lot of animosity around the club at the moment and he's basically the only visible target
sentientsphee3w ago
3 relegations in 4 years and we're in the bottom half of league one with a Club that doesn't communicate with it's fans. Everyone is angry, everyone is upset at the state we're in and the football we see on the pitch hasn't translated into results yet.

Absolutely and this insistence on trying to play like Man City. It doesn’t work in League One and the days of Martin possession ball working are outdated. Always said he’s the easiest manager in the world to set up against
