Signing a guy this old is itself a risk. Need to stop signing 30-something keepers and try and get a long-term solution

Himself. He put playing for Denmark at the World Cup above everything else. What’s happened recently with the surgeries should probably have happened last summer, but being out for a year meant he’d have missed the WC. He’s tried to carry on, selfishly. Unfortunate as it is, there’s no one to blame but him.

He knew exactly what he was doing, he risked the team's position by selfishly playing on to try to guarantee his world cup place. There's no "I" in team.

Exactly. Although a succession of managers should not have aided him. He clearly hasn’t been able to do his usual training, we can see that by how tight fitting the goalie top became. Managers should have dropped him then. He was a liability anyway at that point.

Himself, he knew he was too fat and injured but still kept playing

Get him out on a Free Transfer Sinsaloo is s better all round keeper If it was not for the amount of Soft Goals Casper has alloeed in to his net. We would've had the SPFL Title in the Bag already

If he's got rotator cuff problem he shouldn't have been anywhere near the nets I had the problem a few years ago and believe me he shouldn't have played at all 🍀🇮🇪☘️

Blame is maybe a strong word but hard to deny Schmeichel should have been more open

charlesjones6mo ago

Hard to 'blame' anyone for an injury, just a difficult situation for everyone involved

jonathan.gorrie6mo ago

He should have been more open about it!

mark.marston6mo ago

Nobody. Just one of those things that can happen. Hard to predict when a decline will happen

callum_boyle6mo ago

But when he has knowingly been playing through it surely it has to be picked up on? Nobody is 100 per cent to blame but everyone should be accountable for it. May cost us the title

gerry.docherty76mo ago

Smeichel is 100% to blame for not being honest and saying he was not fully fit to play. He has been carrying a shoulder injury since before the cup final last year and he cost Celtic against Aberdeen. A blind man could see he has been struggling all season with that left shoulder, disgraceful nobody at the club declared him unfit. He has let the fans down.

Probably nobody , what appears or starts off as a minor injury that can be shook off often flares up far more seriously before medical & fitness people can have a chance to diagnosis. It would be even worse if player complained about horrendous suffering & was out for 8-10 mths ,when a couple of wks rest or an injection or two cured the whole injury
