Michael Carrick says opponents' WWE style corner tactics have gone TOO FAR - Do you agree?
Is it time for referees to clamp down and start punishing teams?

Arsenal were allowed free reign with these methods. How did PL allow it to happen

I agree corners have gone bad recently especially when the opposition player is looking at the attacker rather than where the ball is, too much hugging and grappling is getting too much, i have seen players from every team including us "hugging" at corners, i felt like shouting "get a room" and last season Arsenal were definitely the worst of all the teams.

Yes, they should have clamped down on it a long time back instead they let it happen and it became a farce.

Not being biased when I say that Arsenal wouldn't win the PL this season if the rules were tougher/applied correctly!

Agreed, it’s becoming a joke!

yeah i think it is rough play they should punish teams who do that

Agree! Every corner feels like a WWE match... especially when Arsenal are involved...

The whole situation in the box is ridiculous. A foul is a foul wherever but the numerous occasions that fouls in the box are not penalties has become laughable. The same foulon the field get yellow cards.

It is not football! Referees totally and blatantly ignore wrestling holds, arms around players wrestling them to the ground? This is not football? The overprotection of goalkeepers has got to change. Goalkeepers have the added advantage of the use of their arms so why the extra protection. VAR WON THAT GAME FOR ARSENAL! Refs decision is supposed to be FINAL!

I say it all the time, that Arsenal get away with constant fouling in the penalty box. They are not the only ones, but the rules are not being followed consistently. The worst part about it is the hypocrisy from Artita and his merry band of cheats. He screams for everything that happens against them in any game, but never expect same judgment on them!

It's the same as the yellow cards if a player goes to the ref asking for a booking by waving his arm, he gets booked but in the WC it was happening all the time. Messi got booked for a foul then later on he started waving his arm to the ref to book someone, that's his 2nd yellow card he should have gone off but he stayed on, refs scared to follow the rules.
barryroberts724mo ago
I thought the refs were supposed to clamp down on this type of thing, and when they do on the rare occasion they should give a penalty, but they don't. It's like they are scared to give a penalty.

I agree 100%. It reminds me of a rugby scrum.

It’ll be interesting to see how Arsenal fare when the rules get changed.

When United played Everton, Tarkowski literally threw Yoro into the back of the net . Any other time that would be serious foul play. , but because it happens from a corner no serious action is taken. A few years ago Fifa outlawed holding in the box from set pieces , and we enjoyed a great world Cup, not a wrestling match at every set piece

Absolute nonsense if you ask me

Ya, this is Rugfootball

It’s gone too far but because we don’t rely on it, it’s easy to say it’s ruining the game. Ultimately think it’s down to referees failing to take control of the situation. Carrick was right when he said it wasn’t long they were trying to stop contact in the box for set-pieces. This is a total shift backwards.
