If Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso were in equal machinery for their entire F1 careers, who would have been better?

The young Lewis Hamilton got inside Alonso's head quickly. That changed everything.

That rivalry just wouldn't die out.

There is a reason Lewis has stayed with top teams, won more races, is higher paid and respected. Whilst they are both great drivers Lewis delivers off the track whereas Fernando is one of the most disruptive people to ever get in a race car. After what he did at Mclaren the other teams know he's neither trustworthy nor a team player.

Do you think that is the reason why Alonso has failed to secure a drive with a top team since leaving Ferrari?

Hamilton and Alonso both took four Grand Prix wins and 12 podiums in their sole year as teammates at McLaren in 2007. But given Hamilton also took six poles as a rookie, while Alonso as the reigning back-to-back champion only took two, you would suspect that the Briton's career (whilst a lot more comparable) would still have been better than the Spaniard's.

2007 was the only year we got to see this play out, and they finished level on points. It honestly feels like you could flip a coin with this, but I'm going to edge Hamilton
