Jorge Martin scores pole for the Dutch Grand Prix 🇳🇱 Who surprised you the most during qualifying?

Marquez surprised. In a not so good way. By qualifying in 7th. But the reason is obvious. He is really really scared of those large rock like "gravel" stones after really hurting his b*lls last year in a fall. Expected a change of that but since that didnt happen, he's not risking it again. Also Diggia was explosive for a change, this time. Great fight.

HI think Marc arrived in Assen with a plan to stay uninjured which could explain why he was the only top rider to choose the soft rear tyre to aid in managing himself. Nobody plays the long game better than Marc & his positioning in the qualifying was not that great a suprise as he only did enough to scramble somewhere into the first 3 rows.

I thought a strong lap from Marquez was inevitable, but it just didn't come...

I believe Marc's comment states it all; "..labelled the Assen track as ‘quite dangerous’.." and "bike movement". Marc usually rides through problems, but clearly can't at the moment... a slight chink in the armor (so to speak). The high speed sections (Assen) require 100% commitment and trust in the motorbike.

Fernandez will be kicking himself for losing provisional pole! But I think the biggest surprise is Marquez down in seventh!

Raul Fernandez wasn't kicking himself for long!

Aprilia securing their first-ever top-four lockout in a MotoGP qualifying session is surprising. But Marc Marquez only managing P7 was the real shocker at Assen.
