Chelsea lose at Brentford 3-0... thoughts on that performance?
What went wrong? 😳

Buy Trev back 💙
patrickwalton842w ago
Not great result just yet they will come back stronger than ever after the international games definitely
badger.prodder2w ago
Let's just look at basics. 1) Never change a winning team 2) If it works don't fix it 3) Don't allow your 'best players' to go to your rivals 4) Madness is when you repeat the same action repeatedly. All that has happened constantly since the takeover. Constant poor recruitment and continually moving players on has put us where we are.
aondofachristopher2402w ago
After all the telk you must chenge the formation will need 4,2,3,1 standing
danieldannyg922w ago
What is man have to do is that they should stop using back three number three is not good for Chelsea this Premier League for God's sake this is not Bundesliga let it just try back for is going to be okay than Back three and we don't have defenders at all this defenders are worster than before Defender they should try and buy Defender
badger.prodder2w ago
We've had a lot of success with a back 3, but then it depends on the quality and the individual skills. It definitely doesn't suit our present CB's
srsbrgh2w ago
We are shite, and like other comments I don't get fofana, he's not a chelsea player get him out!!!!
kyle.dimond2w ago
Think Brentford were excellent but even still, games like this always seemed like a possibility due to the style of play and quality of the side. When it clicks, dynamite, but there’s going to be a fair few games where this happens across the season
camerondesc12w ago
Pretty awful, but I do think Brentford deserve a lot of credit. They’re a decent side.
cliffsparks2w ago
No depth in the squad Estevao needs to have a start we accomadate other players so we can do the same for him How can we no defend set pieces just challenge for the ball, the new set piece coach is doing a grand job, ha Colwill overrated Palmer and rogers both had a bad night, we need to Dust off mourinhos rusty ol buses and park them up
badger.prodder2w ago
Estevao is a magician but he isn't strong or powerful enough to compete in the EPL on a regular basis. Who would you rather have playing in your side. Traore who just powered through or Estevao
cliffsparks2w ago
Colwill over rated Palmer strolls around and pings the ball around I can do that all day long but if there’s no end result Neto runs his socks off Again we let Jackson or Delap go too soon And as for the set piece twerp, we’ve conceded more than when he came
badger.prodder2w ago
Just remember the average height of the squad is 6', in old money. Also compared to others they look physically weal. A 5'7" midfielder jumping against a 6'3", or taller striker ain't gonna work especially if you're playing zonal marking
george.patten2w ago
I just think they’re not quite there without a full strength team. Get Caicedo and Pedro in and that’s a different game
badger.prodder2w ago
Be honest. That performance last night wouldn't have been any different had Caiciedo or JP been in the line up. Hopefully Xabi is still experimenting, but his post match comments, must resonate with all of us
oluranti05072w ago
Continue my comment, we need Fermino/ Scott, Kone and Camara. Man city bought brown new three midfielders. See revolutionary shape of their team. Defence gets steady with functioning midfield.
badger.prodder2w ago
I accept they are looking good at the moment. However has Enzo shown the players his thesis or his chessboard yet. He's also moved Grealish on.

Can I have Coach/ Manager Alonso's mobile number please?
biggercreations2w ago
Alonso,Alonso,Alonso. You're to blame- Wrong selection.Sooner than later you will be sacked. I could not watch any longer after the 2nd goal. I suggested before that James should be returned to the right back position. Yours sincerely do not understand what he sees in WESLEY FOFANA.
philchristie19552w ago
Still shaky at the back which started off as probably our best defensive performance. Forgot Wellbeck and Rogers were on the pitch. Still not sure about Fofana
badger.prodder2w ago
I think Fofana, who I've never rated since his arrival, possibly had his best game last night. He was let down by the other CB's.
lewiswilson3912w ago
I am not liking our new Goalie to be honest. He is rated quite high, yet he keeps letting goals go past him.
patricklawless52w ago
Absolutely rubbish performance from Chelsea last night the players should give the supporters the admission that the fans paid to watch them.
matteo358912w ago
Chelsea is the same as Everton now, Xabi Alonso and David Moyes are facing the same problem.
james.brooke2w ago
Deary me. It was always going to take time for the structure to work, but you can’t be losing 3-0 at Brentford, you just can’t. Alonso has a lot of work to do, really needs to show he can adapt
jackdrury2w ago
The reality is every club below Arsenal and City will have results like this. The lack of consistency of everyone else will hit them. Especially with big players missing
john.haigh2w ago
At this stage - sometimes change does indeed happen albeit rare - I would say that we dodged a bullet with Xabi. We have our problems but what we also have is a turnaround under Iraola from last season.
mmaphalu2w ago
1. Central midfield pairing The absence of Caicedo and Reece James was very noticeable and Brentford exploited that effectively. 2. Central defense There's lack of cohesion in that area, either with regards to the 3-man defensive system and the pairing thereof, leaving the goalkeeper frequently exposed.
dongorgan12w ago
Chelsea fans cannot be surprised by this result we sold our better defenders the defence is worse than ever and the manager is looking out of his depth. Tenth in the league is best we can achieve
mmaphalu2w ago
I still don't understand why Chalobah was sold because he was a consistent perfomer and rock-solid in many times. Acheampong lacks the heart of a man. Fofana is not stable. Colwil is good when fully fit.
lrandall12102w ago
The defensive side of things is seriously worrying
antonymmartin842w ago
Appalling, totally toothless. I struggle to see how 3-4-3 will ever work in the modern game. Sure, they’re missing Caicedo, but they always get out numbered in the middle of the pitch. Alonso has to adapt or he will go the same way as Amorim at Man United
jordan.harris2w ago
Who knew Henderson wouldnt be good enough against a half decent team in 2026?
pranav.shahaney2w ago
Serious questions need to be asked of the recruitment team. How can a team that should be challenging for the title have a starting midfield duo of Henderson and Barco? Alonso needs to adapt as well. What worked at Leverkusen and Real against considerably weaker teams is not going to cut it in the Premier League
shamanth.jayaram2w ago
Really poor second half, changes were too late, and just felt there was no real fight. Massive credit to Brentford and the job Andrews is doing there though. They’ll win a lot games at the Gtech this season
berny1911ae2w ago
Mentality needs to change. They left Alonso short in the midfield and defenders
chillout2w ago
Xabi not the savior, methinks. No-one will be able to restore the club to former glories. It peaked year’s ago.
dantowen819512w ago
It can happen. Brentford have officially now beaten all the big boys at their own ground. But at the moment Alonso’s tactics look naive and self-defeating. A big international break ahead for Xabi
jamesshearman232w ago
Alonso has to take some of the blame but I actually thought we played alright until the first goal. Then we just fell apart which is a mentality problem we’ve had for years 🤦♂️
alexmarkou02w ago
Set piece coach very average.12 corners not good
jamesshearman232w ago
The marking from Brentford’s first goal was pathetic. Free man at the back post!
amirmir2w ago
The shit Rosenior got as well 😂😂😂 Chelsea will still probs get UCL, but without the ball they are useless. Caicedo needed. Enzo a miss. Another mid needed. Even CB. Alonso got tax because of his name but this is a lot worse than I thought!
dantowen819512w ago
They’ve literally got about 3 midfielders 🤣I know the Camara thing was unfortunate but my god they haven’t helped themselves
jamesshearman232w ago
Rosenior wasn’t the right man for the job but his sacking let the players off the hook for sure. We are so soft it’s a joke. Hate to say it but Spursy 🤦♂️
lgonz874952w ago
New goalkeeper, same results. I always said that Sanchez wasn't the problem, but the lack of physicality at the defensive end. They don't play defense as a team. Alonso needs to hire an assistant that could teach this current roster how to play defense because Xabi can't coach defense. That's why he was fired by Real Madrid last season.
dancoombs2w ago
Honestly just forget it and move on. United lost 3-1 at Brentford this time last year and still finished third. Chelsea are a team in development and there will always be games like this. Learn the lessons and onto the next
jackdrury2w ago
100%. Seems to be going under the radar that three of our best players didn’t feature either. Take them out of any side and they weaken significantly
jamesshearman232w ago
I would agree with you if this was out of the blue. The issue is I expected this because we always crumble under the slightest bit of pressure
jameslloyd14.jl2w ago
Basketball hoops 🥶
briansfmurphy2w ago
Brutal second half effort. Too long in making changes as well.
freddie2w ago
Just wow… can’t say Brentford didn’t deserve that
trapperj5002w ago
What a load rubbish don't have any back line whatsoever
