Ali/Frazier is tough to top, but one that isn't mentioned as often was also special, Duran vs. DeJesus.

Gatti vs Ward!

Really hard to look past Ali vs Frazier overall. If I was to exclude that and go more modern, Pacquiao vs Marquez

Rocky Marciano

The first iteration of George Foreman who stopped Joe Frazier was the hardest hitter, IMO. Also, on a previous comment, Ron Lyle was also a huge puncher of that era who did serve time in prison.

Foreman because he'd easily take all Joshua's punches on his arms and would then FLATTEN Joshua with his first solid punch. Foreman didn't lose power as the fight when on.. check out Foreman vs. Moorer

Foreman, no doubt in my mind

barnstormlance260d ago

Great fighter, didn't fight enough to show his true potential though. He'd be on my personal HOF, but not sure he did enough to be in official

The greatest amateur of all time and accomplished a lot in a short pro career. Maybe not in the GOAT debate but he's one of the best I've ever seen on his day

That time when he BEAT Canelo in their first fight.

barnstormlance260d ago

I'd put him in top 3.. on ability to win when in his prime against all other competitors in history at his weights, I may say he is the greatest

Top 10 at least, if not top five

Hearns had tremendous KO power, to compliment his physical attributes and fantastic boxing skills. And he had power in both hands, and with short punches also.

I think he has to get a top 30 mention for being the greatest amateur ever alone. Absolute magic to watch on his day.

Top 100. He accomplished NOTHING in the pros. Devin haney retired him. LOL

Ali himself chose Sugar Ray Robinson as number one over himself. I'm going with Ali number one, then Robinson, then Marciano. George Foreman should get special mention at number four because of his remarkable career.

So many different parameters around picking 'the greatest'. But I'd say Ali is universally the most popular choice.
